About PegLeg Publishing

PegLeg Publishing was unofficially formed in February of 2003 to provide local and regional authors with editorial assistance and publishing opportunities.  Oklahoma doesn't have much in the way of a publishing industry despite the large number of writers who live in the area.

To meet this need, PegLeg Publishing's goals all relate to providing a opportunities for writers (both local and nation-wide, from beginners to previously published authors) that larger publishing houses aren't able to provide.

PegLeg Publishing was formed with these objectives in mind:

  • Guide and encourage beginning writers to find their voice and their own unique style through manuscript critiques.

  • Create a literary magazine that is not restricted by genre, location, or previous writing success.

  • Host an annual writing contest for beginning writers.

Meet the editor

Hi, I'm Matt.  I've been writing creative stories since grade school, although I've found myself drawn to the editorial side of writing in college.  I've served in a variety of editorial positions, including Editor-in-Chief of an award-winning college anthology, and I've helped student peers and university professors edit short stories, essays, novels, and a book on cultural metaphors.  As a writer, I realize I'm not strong in every area of writing.  I use this to define my role as an editor - I don't want to change or distort an author's vision; rather, I seek to find the areas the author isn't as comfortable with and help him/her become stronger in them.
